Texas Instruments introduced System Development Kit (SDK) for embedded application development based on Windows Embedded CE OS. This SDK is specifically designed for use with the TMS320DM6443 and TMS320DM6446 processors based on DaVinci technology. Windows Embedded CE development environment and DaVinci technology are both popular choices for applications such as digital media adapters, navigation systems, portable media player and VoIP applications.

The SDK includes a Windows Embedded CE board support package (BSP), DaVinci Codec Engine-based demo, OS adaptation layer and  interprocessor communication (IPC).

The Windows DirectShow framework is layered on the DaVinci Codec Engine. It makes easier for developers to build video and audio applications. TI also offers a robust portfolio of eXpressDSP digital media software and the latest codecs.

An SDK for Windows Embedded CE 6.0 for the general market is planned for 2Q 2007 and will first be available from Mistral. Other TI DSP third parties are currently offering complete Windows CE 6.0 enabled reference solutions, such as the recently announced Wireless Network Projector reference design by Ingenient and the videophone reference design by Ittiam, both based on DaVinci technology.

Mistral, a strategic provider of TI's technology for Windows Embedded CE, will soon release additional technology for the full DaVinci software infrastructure so developers can utilize Windows Embedded CE 6.0, targeted at a wide array of DaVinci applications in the broad market.

Additionally, the ASPs supporting TI's SDK for use with Windows Embedded CE are eInfochips, Inc., MPC Data, Logic Product Development, eSOL Co. Ltd. and Wintech Digital Systems Technology Corp. TI's select ASPs and providers of TI technology for Windows Embedded CE act as a single point of contact for TI eXpressDSP digital media software and ongoing support for Windows Embedded CE. ASPs are also able to provide and support TI eXpressDSP digital media software, such as H.264 MP, WMA9 decode, and WMV9/VC1 decode.

The TI SDK for use with Windows Embedded CE 5.0 is available immediately at a zero cost suggested retail price from select TI Authorized Software Providers and providers of TI technology for Windows Embedded CE. The target platform for the TI SDK for Windows Embedded CE is the DM644x Digital Video Evaluation Module available from TI and through distribution channels.
