The AT86RF535B is based on the IEEE 802.16-2004 standard. The chip provides TX, RX, and frequency synthesis functions using the OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) modulation technique. The AT86RF535B consists of a frequency-agile RF transceiver intended for use in 3.5-GHz licensed bands at data rates up to 26Mbps. The transceiver can be configured for either low-IF or zero-IF applications and requires no external filters. Configuration and control registers and a bi-directional data communications interface are available to communicate with existing baseband devices from different vendors.

Applications of AT86RF535B MAXLink 3.5GHz WiMAX Transceiver includes:

  • 3.5 GHz Wireless Communication Devices
  • IEEE® 802.16-2004 Radios

The AT86RF535B MAX-Link WiMAX Transceiver has internal calibration function which is performed between transmit and receive data frames. This function is independent from the MAC and baseband sub-system, improving local oscillator leakage characteristics.

The fractional-N synthesizer in the AT86RF535B WiMAX Transceiver implements a phase interpolation divider technique rather than the conventional modulus divider architecture. The phase interpolation divider provides fast tuning speed and good frequency resolution. The calibrated VCO can be tuned in less than 10 us to support 100 MHz HFDD ( Hybrid Frequency Division Duplexing) operations.
