VirtualLogix announced the VLX for Network Infrastructure 2.0, offering new features including enhanced availability and increased Operating System and platform support, while taking advantage of the latest hardware from Intel, including support for the Intel NetStructure MPCBL0050 Single Board Computer. NetStructure MPCBL0050 is the first Intel-based AdvancedTCA blade server. These new features expand the opportunity for manufacturers to deploy real-time virtualization technology anywhere that Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) is needed.

Mark Milligan, VirtualLogix, said:

VirtualLogix continues to work closely with Intel to expand the opportunity for virtualization in the embedded network infrastructure segment…

Working together, we are able to deliver leading-edge support for the latest technologies, thereby helping manufacturers deliver feature-rich products using the latest hardware technology…

VirtualLogix answers the requirements of network infrastructure equipment makers to create high performance products with reduced cost and improved reliability. Allowing developers to take immediate advantage of the latest Intel processor technology advancements, VirtualLogix VLX for Network Infrastructure 2.0 enables customers to run commercial or proprietary RTOS and Linux simultaneously on the same multi-core processor, resulting in reduced bill of materials, optimized performance and lowered power consumption.

With the addition of support for the Intel NetStructure MPCBL0050 Single Board Computer to VLX for Network Infrastructure 2.0, developers can take advantage of superior subsystem scalability and density while receiving a substantial performance boost. VirtualLogix further enables the consolidation of complex system hardware by allowing mix-and-match 32 or 64 bit, symmetric multi-processor or uni-processor combinations of real-time operating systems such as MontaVista Carrier Grade Linux and VxWorks with general purpose operating systems such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux or UNIX. VirtualLogix performance-focused architecture ensures that all guest-OSes retain fast and predictable response and I/O throughput.

Troy Smith, Intel Communications Alliance at Intel, commented:

By taking advantage of the Intel NetStructure MPCBL0050 Single Board Computer, Real-time virtualization technology from VirtualLogix can help developers deliver new, high-performance solutions that consolidate hardware…

As an affiliate member of the Intel Communications Alliance, VirtualLogix has worked to successfully align its products with real-time virtualization capabilities that support the latest multi-core processors from Intel…
