RoadRunner Echo Cancellation for Better Bluetooth Handsfree Applications - CSR

CSR announced the integration of echo cancellation system into its RoadRunner Plug-n-Talk. The implementation of the integrated echo cancellation system enhanced sound quality in noisy automotive cabin environment. RoadRunner is based on BlueCore3-Multimedia with on-chip DSP and CODEC. It offers all the elements needed to create a bluetooth handsfree applications in the shortest period of time.

CSR RoadRunner Plug-n-Talk for Bluetooth Handsfree Applications

RoadRunner includes CSR's BlueLab software, a configuration tool that offers full access to the source code, allowing developer to change elements such as PIO assignment, call handling, ring tones, and MMI, without disrupting the pre-established Bluetooth device interoperability.

The integrated echo noise cancellation feature boasts a parameter manager allowing fine-tuning to the final suite product, and has been implemented as the preferred solution by major car manufacturers across the world. RoadRunner also benefits from CSR’s proprietary Clear Voice Capture software. The addition of Clear Voice Capture further improves voice quality by combining advanced echo and noise suppression algorithms, which allow the speaker's voice to be transmitted to the caller at the other end of the line with more clarity.

Text to speech engine, provided by NowSpeak technologies is an optional software addition to the design and has been developed specifically for CSR's BlueCore-Multimedia technology. text to speech  offers voice prompts for handsfree operations including incoming caller ID, PIN code alert announcements and fixed phrases during device operation.

RoadRunner Plug-n-Talk is a low cost reference design for Bluetooth handsfree applications. This device enables the end user with Bluetooth hands-free calling capability, via a vehicle powered plug-in form factor. Everything needed to create a state-of-the-art hands free kit is included in the development package.

RoadRunner Plug-n-Talk is based on the BlueCore3-Multimedia device with onchip DSP and CODEC. Those features provide all the elements needed to take an idea into production in the shortest period of time by using as it is, or adapting it to meet specific needs. The inclusion of Clear Voice Capture (CVC) noise and echo suppression ensures enhanced voice quality. A 3rd party text-to-speech demo provides voice prompts for operations including the ID of the incoming caller.
