PSoC Innovator Design Challenge (IDC) India 2008 - Cypress
Posted in Contest, Award, Prize, Cypress, PLD, FPGA, ASIC,..., SoCOn Saturday, August 23, 2008
Cypress has announced the PSoC (Programmable System on Chip) design
competition for engineering students in India. The PSoC Innovator Design
Challenge (IDC) India 2008 is designed to award innovative uses of Cypress
PSoC devices.
The design must use Cypress PSoC devices in an innovative manner and there must
be a working prototype in order to win the contest.

Two tracks to choose:
- Wired, using
CY33210-PSOCEVAL1-U evaluation kit - Wireless, using
CY3209-EXPRESSEVK evaluation kit
Cypress offer a significant discount for those dev kits, for the contest
entrants.
About PSoC
PSoC devices employ a highly configurable system-on-chip architecture for
embedded control design. PSoC devices integrate configurable analog and digital
circuits, controlled by an on-chip microcontroller, providing both enhanced
design revision capability and component count savings. They include up to 32
Kbytes of Flash memory, 2 Kbytes of SRAM, an 8×8 multiplier with 32-bit
accumulator, power and sleep monitoring circuits, and hardware I2C
communications.
The flexible PSoC resources allow designers to future-proof their products by
enabling firmware-based changes during design, validation, production, and in
the field. The unique PSoC flexibility shortens design cycle time and allows for
late-breaking feature enhancements. All PSoC devices are also dynamically
reconfigurable, enabling designers to morph internal resources on-the-fly,
utilizing fewer components to perform a given task.
A single PSoC device can integrate as many as 100 peripheral functions,
saving customers design time, board space and power consumption while improving
system quality. Customers can save as much as $10 in system costs. Learn more

Prizes:
- 1st place prize: Rs. 100,000
- 2nd place prize: Rs. 50,000
- 3rd place prize: Rs. 25,000
- 10 runners up prize: Rs. 5,000 each
Entries will be judged by a panel of experts from Cypress and SLS based on a
number of factors, including:
- A working prototype of the design
- The amount of innovation exhibited by the design
- The level of integration of Cypress products within the design
- The suitability for commercial application of the design
- The amount of design time saved by using the Cypress solution compared to
alternative solutions - Any additional positive impact achieved by using the Cypress solution
compared to alternative solutions
