Mistral Solutions has announced the availability of the IPC 2.0, a new version of Inter-Processor Communications (IPC) software library (from Curtiss Wright Embedded Computing). The IPC 2.0 is used to build multi-processor DSP VPX and VPX/REDI platforms using switched interconnect technology. Supported hardware: CHAMP-AV6 Quad PowerPC 8641/8641D DSP engine and SVME/DMV-185 PowerPC 8641/8641D SBC.
IPC 2.0 provides prioritized, queue-driven flow-controlled message passing for command, control and data transfers. It also provide a POSIX compliant interface with standard open, close, read, write, and ioctl functions. IPC 2.0 also able to works with the VxWorks 6.3 RTOS. IPC 2.0 has API for task-to-task communications where tasks can be resident on the same processor, or on separate processor connected via switched interconnect.

Data transport features in IPC 2.0 address common scenarios in signal processing algorithms where frequently, a single data matrix is divided between processors and reconstructed during the processing stages. For corner turn operations,
IPC 2.0 supports multiple senders writing to a single receiver and facilitate operation on large matrices that have been partitioned.
