Cypress introduced CY25400, the latest member of its Peak Reducing EMI Solutions (PREMIS) family using spread-spectrum technology. The CY25400 implements 4 PLL timing device with two spread-spectrum PLLs to reduce EMI. The spread spectrum technology enable to create EMI filter without bulky chokes, ferrite beads and metal shielding.
EMI: Electro Magnetic Emissions
PLL: Phase Locked Loop
CY25400 enables manufacturers to dynamically adjust EMI reduction variables vial 2 wire I2C link. Some EMI reduction parameters can be programmed, including spread profile (Linear or Lexmark), output frequencies, spread percentages, crystal load capacitance and output drive strength.

CY25400 meets timing, voltage and power requirements for handheld applications, digital entertainment systems and consumer electronics systems, including HDTV, handsets, DVD Recorder, harddisk, portable games, multifunction printers and scanners.
The CY25400 Peak Reducing EMI Solutions chip offers three pin to to specify up to nine frequency, ranging from 3 to 166 MHz. This feature allows developer to use the same device on every platform, reducing risk of excess or bad inventory.
The CY25400 is delivered in 24-pin QFN (4×4 mm) package, 16-pin QFN (3×3 mm) package and 8-pin SOIC package.
Samples of the CY25400 are available now, and full production is scheduled in mid 2007. Price: $1.49 to $2.49.
