Texas Instruments the availability of the MSP430FG461x series of ultra-low power, 120KB flash  microcontrollers. The MSP430FG461x series is designed with larger system memory and enhanced real time processing capability. The library is given in modular C language with full backward compatibility. The extended memory of this microcontrollers enables up to 50 percents reduction of processing cycles.

The MSP430FG461x microcontrollers include up to 8KB RAM memory and up to 120KB of flash. The controllers also have  up to three Op-amp which can be used to handle precision measurement. The microcontroller also has 12-bit ADC with sampling rate up to 200ksps, 12-bit DAC (1 microsecond settling time) and 3-channel DMA. Other on chip features includes: one universal serial communication interface (USCI), one USART, 80 I/O pins, and a LCD driver.

The architecture of MSP430FG461x, combined with five low power modes is optimized to achieve extended battery life in portable measurement applications. The device features a powerful 16-bit RISC CPU, 16-bit registers, and constant generators that attribute to maximum code efficiency. The digitally controlled oscillator (DCO) allows wake-up from low-power modes to active mode in less than 6µs.
