Motion Control Card - ADLINK PCI-8154

ADLINK introduced its PCI-8154 modularized motion control card, which is able to control 4-axis motions  for controlling servo motors, stepper motors, and linear motors. The motion control card features a card index switch to support larger systems, where several motion control cards are needed.

The motion control card delivers up to 6.55 MHz pulse rates and has a emergency stop mechanism to terminate movement in case of system malfunction. The PCI-8154 motion control card also features a software security protection to prevent software piracy.

The PCI-8154 motion control card is compatible with Panasonic, Mitsubishi, and Yaskawa servo and stepper motors. The PCI-8154 allows for movement through multiple axes with linear and circular interpolations using continuous contouring thus providing smooth motion control for a wide-range of applications.

The PCI-8154 motion control card offers 13 homing modes to support a variety of applications, backlash compensation for improved movement accuracy, and performs simultaneous starting and stopping of multiple axes in a single or multiple motion control card configurations.

The modularized design of the PCI-8154 supports extension boards that can be attached for distributed I/O control, high-speed triggering, and ECAM control. Combining the motion control and distributed I/O via the extension board simplifies integration. The on-board SDRAM of this motion control card can store many compare points, making the card ideal for high line rate line scan applications.
