Analog Devices (ADI) has announced the availability of company’s new iCoupler
products, the ADuM120xW, ADuM130xW and ADuM140xW digital
isolators. The new iCoupler digital isolator devices are designed for
electric-hybrid automotive systems, and have achieved AEC-Q100
automotive qualification, a critical stress test qualification for automotive
ICs (integrated circuits) delivered by AEC (Automotive Electronics Council).

The ADuM120xW (2-channels), ADuM130xW (3-channels) and ADuM140xW (4-channels)
digital isolators are based on ADI’s iCoupler chip-scale micro-transformer
technology. iCoupler digital isolators are relatively insensitive to temperature
and offers long-term reliability. Because iCoupler products have a digital
interface, there is no need for external signal conditioning components, and
they consume one-tenth to one-sixth the power of opto-couplers at comparable
signal data rates. The CMOS-based parts operate with the supply voltage on
either side ranging from 3.0 V to 5.5 V, providing compatibility with lower
voltage systems as well as enabling voltage translation across the isolation
barrier.
