Xilinx announced the Virtex-5 LX330T device, the FPGA with high speed serial transceivers. The Virtex-5 LX330T device extends the density of previous released Virtex-5 LX330 plus lowest power serial transceivers. Xilinx Virtex-5 LX330T consumes less than 100mW per channel at 3.2Gbps and it has built-in tri-mode Ethernet MAC blocks and PCI Express endpoint.

Steve Douglass, Xilinx, said:

Customers are looking for single chip solutions to increase performance, reduce design complexity, and reduce time to market. These designs, often ASIC prototyping and emulation, as well as applications such as routers, backplane switches, and traffic management solutions, require a migration from parallel to serial to increase IO bandwidth. The Virtex-5 LX330T device addresses all these requirements while integrating PCI Express sub-system and Gigabit Ethernet MAC blocks to provide a comprehensive solution…

Virtex-5 LXT Platform offers:

  • Up to 330,000 logic cells,
  • 3.4-Mbits of distributed RAM,
  • 11.6-Mbits block RAM,
  • 900 user I/Os,
  • 24 high-speed transceivers,
  • Tri-mode Ethernet blocks.
  • Built-in PCI Express

Xilinx also provides ISE v9.1i design tools including ChipScope Pro and the PlanAhead tool, protocol packs and development boards.

Xilinx Virtex-5 LX330T are in sampling now.
