AXIOMTEK launched EP812, a new low power EPIC(Embedded Platform for Industrial Computing) form factor SBC (Single Computer Board), which supports Socket 478 for Intel® Pentium® M and Intel® Celeron® M processors. EPIC allows PC-style connectors for I/O’s instead of the pin-headers common on PC/104 designs, and it also tends to increase reliability, particularly in environments that are prone to extreme shock and vibration. Besides, it offers alternatives of low voltage Intel® Pentium® M and ultra low voltage Intel® Celeron® M processors as well. The EP812 features a DVI-I display function which is a popular display solution for both DVI and CRT signal output for dual external display application such as Digital Signage Appliance (DSA). For wireless terminal applications, it supports Mini PCI Type III expansion for off-the-shelf modules in the market. This embedded board is particularly suitable for multimedia solution which requires more effective computing power.

The EP812 delivers the various application oriented solution as PC-based embedded platform. The ideal cost effective compact size single board computer easily works with regular laptop Intel® Pentium® M and Celeron® M CPU’s. This helps to lower the total cost of ownership (TCO) when compared to other small form factor SBC’s with onboard low power CPU supported only, and furthermore, the EP812 offers a CPU option with an ultra low voltage onboard 1GHz Intel® Celeron® M processor.

Joseph Chou, Product Manager of Embedded Computing Division:

The EP812 continues to deliver the various application oriented solution as PC-based embedded platform like DSA. It continues to strengthen our appeal to developers as they are able to come to one manufacturer for all embedded requirements…

…Moreover, with Intel IPD’s commitment, the EP812 is guaranteed to be shipped under a long term supplying trend.

This function-rich board provided DualView for both LVDS LCD and CRT displays, dual Gigabit Ethernet for network communication, four USB 2.0 ports for high speed peripherals, and Digital I/O for industrial control applications. Other rich I/O features, which include Dual LAN (10/100/1000Mbps), CompactFlashTM, and AC’97 Codec Audio.
