TI introduces Video Content Analytics (VCA) version of DM355 IP Network Camera (IPNC) Reference Design

TI has announced the availability of the new Video Content Analytics (VCA) version of DM355 IP Network Camera (IPNC) reference design, providing a comprehensive, cost-effective solution integrating advanced analytic solutions for video surveillance customers. This new reference design is based on the DM355IPNC-MT5IP Security Camera reference design (TI and Aptina Imaging pruduct). This DM355 IP network camera reference design also provides web-based monitoring and notification of security events and enables differentiation via royalty-free Linux IPNC application source code and schematics.

The new version of DM355 IP network camera reference design is a product result of collaboration between TI, ObjectVideo, Aptina Imaging, ZOT (Zero One Technology) and Appro Photoelectron. It includes TI’s DaVinci TMS320DM355 digital media processor, Aptina’s HD image sensor and VCA (Video Content Analytics) daughter board. This 41 x 40 mm board implements an embedded solution running ObjectVideo intelligent video analytics software on TMS320DM6435. The 5-megapixel security camera delivers high-quality HD images, producing a field of view of 1280 x 720 pixels.

This IPNC reference design is powered by DM355 and DM6435 (TI’s DaVinci digital media processors). ObjectVideo OnBoard, a set of intelligent video libraries, run on DM6435. These libraries enable analytics to be easily embedded within virtually any device such as cameras, encoders and DVRs. ObjectVideo’s numerous algorithms enable the software to intelligently discern objects of interest; continuously track positions for all moving and stationary targets; distinguish between humans, vehicles and other objects.
