Block Cipher Algorithm for Music and Images Distribution - CLEFIA - Sony
Posted in SecurityOn Saturday, March 24, 2007
Sony announced the CLEFIA cipher algorithm, targeted to secured digital data distribution, such as music and images applications. Sony CLEFIA block cipher algorithm is a new highly secure and efficient block cipher algorithm that can be implement in combination of hardware and software.
Sony will demonstrated it’s CLEFIA block cipher algorithm at the Fast Software Encryption 2007 international conference, Luxembourg, from March 26, 2007.

The key advantages of CLEFIA are its high speed operation and its implementation efficiency in hardware and software. Hardware implementation gives up to 1.42 Gbps throughput.
The CLEFIA interface corresponds to 128-bit block cipher technology such as the ISO/IEC 18033-3 International Standards and the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES). The block length of CLEFIA is 128 bits and the key length can be selected from 128 bits, 192 bits, and 256 bits.
The CLEFIA cipher is designed with advanced cryptanalysis techniques and have sufficient immunity against known cryptanalytic attacks. Sony has cooperated with Japan researcher to create this cipher design, verified by third party experts overseas.
